The IRZ carried out a second regional conference on "International Civil Law Cooperation within the Hague Conventions" in Rabat / Morocco on 10 and 11 November 2014. The event, organised in cooperation with the Permanent Bureau of the Hague Conference on Private International Law and its Secretary General Christophe Bernasconi as well as the Court de Cassation of Morocco, is the second regional conference in the Arab region dealing with the Hague Conventions. A first conference had already taken place in Tunis in 2013 as a result of which Tunisia has recently acceded to the Hague Conventions as its 78th Party.
The conference in Rabat was attended by delegations from seven Arab states: Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Mauretania and Saudi Arabia as well as Tunisia.
These conferences are intended to convey the advantages of regional and international cooperation within the Hague Conventions to Arab states and to discuss issues and concerns in a confidential atmosphere. The event was the second event organised by the IRZ in Morocco; it is planned to continue cooperation in the coming years.
