Judges from Amman, Zarqa and Irbid discussed current reforms and practical approaches to handling commercial disputes more efficiently with Dr Martin Vomhof, Presiding Judge at Düsseldorf Regional Court, and Dr Arnd Weishaupt, Presiding Judge at Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court, during a hybrid event on 21 October 2026.

The German experts outlined the working methods of the traditional commercial divisions, as well as the specific features of the Commercial Courts newly established in 2025. Among other things, the fundamental question was raised: does the establishment of specialised Commercial Courts for economically significant disputes lead to a two-tier justice system? In this context, it was explained that the new courts are intended, in particular, to enhance the attractiveness of Germany as a centre for justice whilst at the same time relieving the burden on courts of other instances, without restricting general access to the ordinary courts.

The comparative legal exchange demonstrated that improvements to commercial justice can be achieved at various levels: through the organisation of procedures, the specialisation of courts and forward-looking case management. The event offered Jordanian and German participants the opportunity to share their respective experiences and take away potential ideas for their own judicial practice.
