In this project, the IRZ was a partner of the Craiova Court of Appeal, Romania. Another partner was the Rijeka Regional Court, Croatia. For the participation of German experts and participants, the IRZ had a budget of EUR 35,000 at its disposal. The project was implemented between July 2016 and June 2017.

The aim of the project was to provide the judiciary with multidisciplinary training on civil protection of EU citizens in cross-border cases. Both the EU Directive 606/2013 on mutual recognition of protection measures in civil matters and the Directive 2004/38/EC on the right of citizens of the Union and their family members to move and reside freely within the territory of the Member States were addressed in the seminars.

Three seminars were held, one in Medulin, Croatia, one in Cologne and one in Iași, Romania, with a total of 75 participants. Moreover, a handbook was developed on the subject of the project, which is available in German, Croatian and Romanian and is being distributed in the participating countries.
